CMF Grad Student Conference: Skills Sharing Session: TAs in a Dangerous Time: Junior Scholars and Teaching through the COVID-19 Pandemic

As the COVID-19 pandemic forced university courses to move from in-person to online, junior scholars working as teaching assistants found themselves facing unprecedented pressures. Not only did the pandemic impact our own work and learning, but we also had to facilitate the learning of undergraduate students during this shift to virtual delivery, many of whom were dealing with their own personal and educational crises. In this COVID context, TAs have often functioned as the only regular “face-to-face” contact undergraduates have with their teaching team, through Zoom tutorials and office hours. In this panel, a group of graduate students will discuss our practical teaching experience through this difficult time.
